MOVEMENT

At 79 years young, Doug knows the importance of motion! Try to incorporate movements into your exercise that involve the whole body or at least multiple body parts, as this gives you a more challenging and functional workout, and stimulates your brain along with your body. Performing cross-body or crossing midline movements helps improve balance and coordination.

May is National Arthritis Awareness Month. Arthritis? Move! Low back pain? Move! Neck Pain? Move! Peripheral Neuropathy? Move! Cardiovascular disease? Move!

Active movement of our body parts stimulates our muscles and nerves and improves blood flow, all of which can also help relieve pain that may be present from stiffness from lack of movement. Exercise is literally medicine, and can help all of the above mentioned conditions, as well as many others. DM me to learn more about how exercise and increasing your motion can help!

Did you know that you should perform active movement / active warm-up before a workout instead of static stretching? Active movement of our body parts stimulates our muscles and nerves and improves blood flow, priming the body for the more strenuous activity you are about to perform. Start slowly and move through small ranges of motion, gradually progressing range of motion and speed as you warm up.
